Kota: In a disturbing case of alleged medical negligence, a 42-year-old pregnant woman died at Bundi district hospital early Sunday morning, prompting protests by her family and Congress workers on the hospital premises.
The deceased, an eight-month pregnant woman, a resident of Chontra Ka Kheda in Bundi’s Keshoraipatan area, was admitted to the hospital around 7:30 pm on Saturday. According to officials, the attending gynaecologist found her haemoglobin level to be critically low at 4.7 gm and advised an urgent blood transfusion, asking the family to arrange blood immediately.

Contradicting the official version, Congress’s Bundi city president, Shailesh Soni, who joined the family’s protest, alleged that the hospital staff failed to administer the blood transfusion in time and referred her to Kota after she had already died. When the family reached Jay Kay Lon Hospital around 7:30 am, doctors there reportedly told them she had died nearly three hours earlier.
Taking note of the incident, Bundi MLA Harimohan Sharma intervened, prompting the district administration to investigate the matter and constitute a high-level committee, reports PTI.
He accused the healthcare system of negligence spanning the entire duration of her pregnancy, which contributed to her critically low haemoglobin levels. Following the incident, the duty doctor was placed on APO (awaiting posting orders) and attached to the Kota headquarters.
