
Ludhiana: In a tragic accident near the Verka Milk Plant on Ludhiana-Ferozepur Road, a 31-year-old doctor lost his life on Saturday morning after his car collided with a bike and a car, before overturning.
The deceased has been identified as a resident of Sector 39, Chandigarh Road. The fatal crash occurred around 9:00 am while the doctor was on his way to Jagraon in his Hyundai Creta. According to Sarabha Nagar police, the sequence of events began when the doctor’s vehicle hit a two-wheeler, after which it rammed into a Maruti Swift car registered in Haryana. The impact caused the Creta to overturn, leaving the vehicle badly mangled.
Passersby rushed to the scene and pulled the doctor out of the mangled wreckage. However, he had already succumbed to severe injuries, particularly to the head.

The occupants of the Swift car, a family from Haryana, sustained only minor injuries. They revealed that they had been returning to Fatehabad after attending an event in Jalandhar and spending the night in Ludhiana. The force of the collision also caused a tyre on their vehicle to burst.

Speaking to TOI, Inspector Madhu Bala, SHO, Sarabha Nagar police station, said that prima facie evidence suggested that the accident was caused by speeding. Police are yet to record statements from the victim’s family.
In response to concerns over missing crash barriers on the stretch of road, NHAI Project Director Priyanka announced that a safety audit will be initiated.
Station house officer (SHO) of the Sarabha Nagar police station, Madhubala, said, “Legal formalities are being completed and a detailed probe is underway,” reports Hindustan Times.
