
Gorakhpur: A general surgeon at BRD Medical College, Gorakhpur, has reportedly lost Rs 71.22 lakh in a fraudulent land deal involving a man posing as a hospital operator and his associates. The accused allegedly used forged documents to siphon off the money and has reportedly begun threatening the doctor after he demanded his money back.
The doctor, a resident of Gemini Paradise in Moghalaha, lodged a complaint with Gulriha police detailing the scam. According to the complaint, he was introduced to the accused, a resident of Sukhad in the Ahirauli police station area of Kushinagar district, who claimed to be the director of Arshiya Hospital in Karimnagar. The accused reportedly lured the doctor with lucrative land deals.

Despite repeated assurances, no deeds were executed. Under mounting pressure, the accused issued a cheque of Rs 54 lakh on January 28, 2025, which later bounced. When the doctor demanded the money back, he was reportedly threatened with death.
Speaking to Jagran, Gulriha Inspector-in-Charge Vijay Pratap Singh said that based on the victim’s complaint, an FIR has been registered against five named accused. A thorough investigation of land-related documents, bank transactions, and other evidence is underway. Further action will be taken based on the evidence.
