Bijnor: In a shocking incident, a kanwariya allegedly died after being administered an injection by a doctor at a hospital in Uttar Pradesh’s Bijnor on Thursday. The incident sparked outrage among fellow kanwariyas who blocked the national highway and created a ruckus.

According to the PTI report, the incident occurred on Thursday in Roshanpur village around 7.30 am, when Rampal (40), who was part of a pilgrim group from Rani Ganj in Bareilly, began feeling unwell. 

He was rushed to the hospital and was allegedly treated by the doctor; however, his condition deteriorated, and he died shortly after, ASP Vinay Singh said.

According to ABPLive, the deceased’s brother alleged that his brother died due to a doctor’s negligence who administered the wrong injection to him, leading to his immediate death.

After Rampal’s death, the kanwariyas became agitated and demanded action against the doctor. The pilgrims were pacified later following police intervention.  

Based on a complaint by Rampal’s brother, Satpal, a case was registered against the doctor and the body was sent for postmortem to ascertain the cause of death, the ASP mentioned.

The group of kanwariyas has since resumed their journey to Haridwar to collect Ganga water, he added.

Medical Dialogues had earlier reported that an on-duty doctor and the principal of Maharaja Jitendra Narayan Medical College & Hospital (MJNMCH) in Cooch Behar have been accused of medical negligence by a family of a 13-year-old girl who suddenly died after receiving five injections within minutes of her admission. The family of the deceased has filed a complaint against the doctor in connection with the incident.  

According to the complaint filed by the family, the girl’s condition deteriorated after the attending doctor administered her injections soon after she was admitted to the hospital.
